Do nitrates behave like acids? I am doing a science experiment at school about the reactivity of metals in different solutions. When the metals where put in hydrochloric acid they bubbled vigorously and the Internet helped explain why. When the metals where placed in Copper Nitrate the edges of the zinc turned black. Is the same reaction occurring like in the acid ?
