Too scared to test... spotting but no Aunt Flo , could I still be prego?

My period was due yesterday and still hasn't showed up. I spotted a very very light pink yesterday and a very small spot of brown today. My never get sore before my period and they feel like they were used as a punching bag. I am trying not to get my hopes up but I am too scared to test because we have been trying for a year and I don't want to see another negative. So my question is, has anyone else experienced spotting and still gotten a Postive Result ??? Any input or the symptoms you experienced while waiting to test is much appreciated. Thanks ladies!
