Would Puffy, PDiddy, have been catapulted to his level of current fame if Biggy Smalls, N BIG was not murdered?

Okay I heard a guy talking on talk radio about how if the Elian Gonzalez thing in Florida had gone different then we would not have been in Iraq today. The event with guns in the face of this family created a backlash in the Cuban community of whom voted 90% for Bush in 2000, Bush barely wins but by 700 or so votes. So if no Elian then no war in Iraq or Bush for eight years. When I thought about this I wondered if you guys think Sean Puffy Combs would have become such a star if the Notorious BIG had not been killed?
