Why are atheists more gullible and superstitious than Christians?

I read an article where somebody looked into the opinions of both groups and the Christians were more rationally grounded while the non-religious were all over the place. To be fair there are some Christians take Genesis as a historical/scientific narrative and not a myth with spiritual Truths essential to salvation like the Catholic doent Dei Verbum stated. I'm not trying to call fundamentalist Protestants and atheists both unreasonable but I think Catholicism is a good middle ground that balances faith and reason.
